Every year we award bursaries to deserving candidates who are enrolled in post secondary medical education programs. In the past, we have awarded 2 bursaries valued at $2500 to two applicants. We all know that costs are spiralling higher each year and we need more qualified health care workers for our system to continue to work. At our June member meeting, we approved a motion to increase not only the amount in each bursary, but also to create a third.
The two auxiliary bursaries have been increased to $4,000 each.
We have also created a new bursary, The Bea Anderson Memorial Scholarship valued at $5,000. Bea was a long standing member of our organization and left us legacy in her will. We decided to use the bequest and interest earned to create this bursary. This will be awarded to one deserving applicant each year.
